So many places to see but so little time. Hmmmm.... We need two nights in London MINIMUM! So...do we go to Scotland? Wales? Devon? More research required for sure! We want to hire a care and loop through the countryside. We can pick the car up quite early the day we fly in to Heathrow, so that will give us a pretty full day to travel and sightsee. The last two nights will be London before going by train to Paris. Not far I know!
We went to The Cotswolds and stayed three nights at Upper Slaughter. This is our village.

Street View
I looked up "street view" to walk through the Swiss village of Grindelwald in the Alps. This is amazing and you can really picture where you might want to stay. Found a lovely studio with the view of the Eiger I was looking for!

Staying fit
Must stay fit while we are travelling...ought to pack my joggers. Have to remember to look the other way when crossing those roads! Except for the UK of course. After all, the fitter I can be, the more of those wonderful foods I can sample....yummmm

Barcelona Sights
Suggestions have been Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's beautiful cathedral under construction, his house and Parc Guell and the Joan Miro museum. A must for me is Museu Picasso which is housed in a medieval palace complex and charts Picasso's rise to fame. La Pedrera with its curving facade and peculiar rooftop looks fascinating and will be a wonderful photo opportunity! Must visit the beach in Barconoletta to cool off after all this sightseeing.

First stop Barcelona
Need to research this wonderful city. We have four days to explore which will be fab! Any suggestions for the "Must Do in Barcelona" list?
Practising hiking!
Alex and I started preparing for hiking near Grindelwald in the Swiss Alps by exploring the Snowy Mountains last January. This is the Dead Horse Gap walk...easy by Swiss standards I'm sure..but hey..it's a start!
Must do list for Paris
It has been SO long since I have visited Paris...I think I was 24 the last time I was there! So...can I ask you..what do you suggest should be on my "Must Do List For Paris"???? I love art, markets, food and exploring :)
Camera to take?
I have a digital SLR which takes beautiful shots but it is quite bulky. Unless I can carry it in a bag/backpack, it will be slung around my neck..which makes it REALLY obvious I am a tourist! So....shall I go for a smaller one at the expense of gorgeous shots? Photography, by the way, is a hobby of mine & barely day goes by that I don't take a picture of some kind!
Five days in the UK
This is NOT a long time, but we plan to make the most of it! We were last in the UK in 1994..whoa...long time ago. Then we travelled with two very young children, so this time it will be totally different. However..where to go? We fly to Heathrow early in the day & thought we might hire a car from the airport and head out into the countryside for three nights, then back to London for the last two. Due in Paris then, but can take our time that last day. Paris isn't far after all! Now decisions to be made...B&B's ??? Cottages???? Hotels???? Where???
Clothes??
Thinking about what clothes to pack.....hmmm Summer in Europe?? I am determined to pack smart!!! Definitely not take too much & preferably drip dry/non iron..
Swiss Alps
We love hiking in the Snowy Mountains in Australia & so visiting the Swiss Alps is a MUST!!! I think Grindewald would be our destination of choice, with balcony and view!! Now...to find somewhere we can afford...

Barcelona
Barcelona I have always wanted to visit so we will fly straight there after landing in Paris. We have booked an apartment in Barconoletta near Born and close to the city. Also close to the beach...perfect!
Planning backwards!
We decided to plan backwards and booked a week at the end in an apartment in Paris in Le Marais on the Right Bank near the heart of Paris. After extensive research and with a lot of help from Trip Advisor (highly recommended), this seemed the perfect location to form a base in Paris. It has been suggested we purchase a museum pass and metro pass to make life easy. Alex loves to cook so am looking forward to strolling the street markets for fresh French produce to cook up a storm at night. This is the life!
